HOW CAPTAIN SAM WORKS
Captain Sam comes to your classroom to interact with your students in your existing set up. No need to move them anywhere!
THE FORMAT (note this may vary slightly due to student reaction)
Start to 5 min. - Improvised performance.
Captain Sam makes a flourished dramatic entrance into the class, possibly having drawn attention to himself by some age suitable buccaneering outside. He then proceeds to introduce himself, ask location, and time (date) as well as find helper to hold props and tricorn hat.
5 min. - 15 min. - Reading of Story No. 1 (chosen by you)

An interactive reading of your first chosen story. Captain Sam vocally enacts voices and characterisations as well as asking relevant questions regarding illustration and content.

15 min. - 17 min. - Stand up and Shake
Approximately two minutes where Captain Sam has the children get up and pretend to be and interact as one or more characters in your chosen story. The purpose being both educational and physically practical. Young people don't like sitting still for long.
17 min. - 27 min. - Reading of Story No. 2 (chosen by you)
An interactive reading of your second chosen story
27 min. - 30min. - Captain Sam says Good-bye
As with the entrance earlier, this departure includes improvised elements in a buccaneering style. Captain Sam asks directions to the nearest beach so he may find his longboat and return to his square rigger as he thanks the students for their heartfelt participation and hopes to see them all soon.
